How to Use Information to Get Leads For Your Business
If you have not been paying attention to the Internet, chances are you still use Google or some other search engine to find information about a subject. Chances are, you probably use one or more of the more popular search engines. You probably know that it is pretty easy to perform a search. For instance, all you have to do is type in “how do I get rich?” into Google and you will see literally thousands of results appear before your eyes.
Unfortunately, if your question was even slightly related to income or finance, there are more than likely hundreds, if not thousands, of pages that will pop up. If you cannot sort through the horseshit and find the answer that you are looking for, then maybe it is time to start learning SEO or search engine optimization. This can be confusing to beginners but once you understand the concept, you will understand why every company, every business on the Internet, should be optimizing their website.
So what exactly is search engine optimization? It is simply the process of increasing traffic to a website by using the search engines. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN are just like the main thoroughfares in town – the only difference is the speed of time and intensity. A business, site, or individual can be listed high on a search engine for a long time with little or no effort if they just pay for the advertising. Of course, they will pay for more than nothing if their site or ad gets a ton of traffic.
Infoliating yourself from the mass of search results becomes very important. Start by writing down a list of your goals and ask yourself, what is the first thing a potential user would type into the search bar to locate you? Is it a keyword or a phrase? Perhaps they search for something along the lines of “How do I become famous on Facebook” or “How do I make a lot of money online without doing any work?” The first thing you want to do is find out what people are searching for and then attempt to answer those questions.
For example, if your primary goal is to become famous, you may want to try searching for terms related to that. If your company sells a certain type of widget, for example, you can try phrases such as “How to make money with Facebook Widgets” or “Learn how to make money with Facebook widgets” and so on. This is not rocket science; basic internet research will show that users are searching for specific types of information. This will give you a good place to start. Now, the only thing left to do is to convert your user search results into links.
The next step is to post to your Facebook or Twitter account every time you see something of interest. Try to leave your URL as your name and as the comment title. This will help people find your posts even when they have no idea who you are or what company you are representing. By posting on Facebook and Twitter regularly, you will be able to build up a decent list of followers. This will greatly increase your exposure and brand awareness, which will translate to sales.
